SEO and Trouts?

Saturday, April 16th, 2005

You might wonder what a Trout has to do with Search Engine Optimizations? The solution is pretty easy. A  german computer magazine (c’t of Heise) has announced a challenge, where you have to get a good  Search Engine Rating for an artificual term.  The Term is a german trout variation, called Hommingberger gepardenforelle".

I do participate in that contest with my eckes.org article about Forellen (engl. Trout) here

This  is not the first challenge of this Kind. The last one was based on the term Nigritude Ultramarines

Personally I bet that Heise will profit from all the artificual links most :)

News about Trackback Pings on Friendster

Monday, April 11th, 2005

The Friendster Customer Service (Bill) answered me, that  if  I have technical  questions regarding the TypePad Blog, I should check out http://www.sixapart.com/support/.

I did - and you know what? TypePad is not directly supporting auto discovery of trackback URLs. The options  are documented unter "Sending a Trackback".

So I guess the Simpletracks recommendation from my last post is still a good idea.

Trackbacks at Friendster

Saturday, April 9th, 2005

It looks like the TypePad Blog at Friendster is happily accepting Trackbacks  and allow easy management of those, however it does not automatically ping URLs you have included in your post.

Well, all of you out there who need a solution to that Problem (it is not in Friendsters FAQ system), check out the Web based service from Adam Kalsey: Simpletracks

Greetings
Bernd

PS: yes I am asking the Friendster Team about Ping support.

eckes at friendster?

Saturday, April 9th, 2005

All of you who wonder why I am blogging here - well one cannot have enough blogs :)

No seriously, I am just trying out this service, after i have learned from Darren (ProBlogger) that Pamela Anderson is blogging here on Frienster, too. I wonder why he calls her a Trash Princess.

Anyway, so far the Blog support and functions look reasonable, the social network stuff of Friendster is pretty outdated and US centric (you cant pick a University outside the US states even if you have specified another country).

Please dont expect too much posts here, check out eckes.org or itblog.eckenfels.net instead.

And please leave a comment :)
